Princeton honors its firefighters
Princeton turned out to honor its volunteer firefighters Friday at the annual Firemen’s Parade. The men and women of Mercer Engine Co. No. 3, Princeton Hook and Ladder Co., and Princeton Engine Co. Fire engines both new and antique, lights flashing, decorated with flowers and with helmets and boots in place, followed the marchers.
In a brief ceremony at Borough Hall, borough Mayor Robert W. Cawley, borough Fire Commissioner Richard Woodbridge and Borough Council member Barbara J. Mill thanked the fire companies for their work and inspected the ranks with Chief William Rodweller.
Awards were presented by Chief Rodwellcr to James Pace, of Hook and Ladder, for 55 years of service; William Guinn, of No. 1. 50 years; Charles Stryker. No. 3, 45 years; Robert Higgins, No. 1,35 years; Andrew Cupples, No. 1.30 years; Ralph Kleiber. No. 1. 30 years; and Alistair Stewart, Hook and Ladder, 30 years
