FIGHTING UNIVERSITY FIRE: Members of the Princeton Fire Department use an axe and chain saw to cut a hole through the wood and copper-covered root of a Princeton University dining hall to reach a fire that started around 9:45 Thursday morning. Some 50 students in the dining hall and in dorm rooms in adjoining Holder and Hamilton Halls were evacuated without incident or injury. Fire Chief Pat Root reported the roof caught fire while workmen were heating a seam with a propane torch. Damage was estimated by University officials at between 910.000 and $15,000.
