Former Princeton fire chief
HAMILTON — Funeral services were held Wednesday in Princeton for Ralph F. Kleiber Sr., 64, who died Friday at the Helene Fuld Medical Center, Trenton.
Born in Little Rocky Hill, he had lived in Princeton before moving to the Mercerville section of Hamilton in 1977.
He retired in 1992 after 44 years as owner of Kleiber Service in Princeton.
Mr. Kleiber served as past chief of the Princeton Fire Department and was a member of Engine Co. No. 1 for 44 years, also serving as its president and vice president. He was a charter member of the Squatter’s Club of Princeton, where he served as president for more than 10 years.
He was a charter member of the B.P.O.E. Elks of Princeton, Chapter No. 2128. He also served with the New Jersey National Guard in Princeton.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kleiber; two sons, Ralph F. Kleiber Jr. of Hamilton Square and Richard F. Kleiber of Ewing; a daughter, Karen Wright of Mercerville; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, Princeton.
Burial followed in Princeton Cemetery.
