Alex Duthie, 79, died February 21 at Princeton Medical Center.
Born in Princeton, Mr. Duthie was a lifelong area res-ident. He retired in 1962 as a carpenter from Carpenters Local No. 781 of Princeton. He was a member of Princeton Hook and Ladder Fire Co. and I would have been honored in June for 55 years of service. He served as a line officer and former chief of the Princeton Fire Department.
A World War II veteran of the United States Coast Guard, he ‘ was a member of American Legion Post 76 and the Senior Citizens of Princeton.
Husband of the late Margaret A. Duthie, he is survived by two daughters, Barbara Joan Hernandez of Chino Hill, Calif., and Lorraine Simbala of Cranbury; two sisters, Jessie Sjostrom of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Mary Cleaves of Lawrenceville; and two grandchildren, Chris-tine and Paul Hernandez.
The service was held Tuesday at Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, Chaplain E. Joy Kulvicki of Princeton Medical Center officiating. Burial was in Princeton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Princeton Hook & Ladder Fire Co., North Harrison Street, Princeton 09940.
