Engine Co. No. 1 responding to a chimney fire

Engine Co. No. I and police answered a call to a chimney fire at a Winant Road home on the evening of Jan. 11.

The fire was caused by a buildup or creosote in the chimney, police said. Minimal damage was done to the chimney. The homeowner was alerted to the fire by passers-by, who stopped at the house when they saw flames coming from the chimney.
