George L. Pierre Jr.
PLAINSBORO – George L. Pierre Jr., 65, died Friday at home.
Born in Princeton, he lived there all his life until moving to Plainsboro one year ago.
Mr. Pierre retired in 1995 from Princeton University’s Department of Grounds and Buildings after 33 years of service.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 76 of Princeton. He was also member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Mr. Pierre, a 40-year member of Mercer Engine Company No. 3 of the Princeton Fire Department, served as president for two terms and was also vice president. More recently, he served as chairman of the Committee for the 175th Anniversary of Mercer Engine Company No. 3.
He was a member of the Firemens Relief Association, the Squatters Club of Princeton and the B.P.O.E.
Mr. Pierre also coached Little League baseball In Princeton for over 20 years.
Son of the late George L. Sr. and Margaret Wills Pierre, he is survived by a brother, Willis J. Pierre of Pottstown, Pa.
Graveside services will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity-All Saints Cemetery, Princeton.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton. Mercer Engine Company No. 3 will conduct services at 7:30 p.m.
