PRESENT AND FUTURE FIRE CHIEFS: William D. Shields (center) a Princeton postal employee, Is Chief of the Princeton Volunteer Fire Department which, unlike some volunteer organizations, has a new chief each year. The 30-year-old Shields is a nine-year member of Engine No. 1 on Chestnut Street and the town’s youngest Chief on record. He Is one of three firemen in his family—his father, William E. Shields, and his younger brother, Henry, are also members of the department At left is Ralph Hulit Jr., 1st Assistant Chief, who Is a 16-year member of Hook ft Ladder on Harrison Street He will be Chief during 1981, before yielding to 2nd Assistant Chief Ray Wadsworth, an 18-year member of Engine No. 3 on Chambers Street.
